The third edition of the “Ashkhara Atmosphere” festival kicks off in Jalan Bani Bu Ali.

Jalan Bani Bu Ali, July 16 (ONA) — The third edition of the “Ashkhara Atmosphere” forum kicked off this evening under the slogan “We Welcome You” in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali, South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, under the patronage of Dr. Said bin Mohammed Al Saqri, Minister of Economy. The forum will continue until August 9.

The opening ceremony included a screening of an introductory film about the forum and its objectives, followed by musical pieces performed by a scout band from the state’s residents, and the opening of the heritage village accompanying the forum, which highlighted the components of Omani identity and the region’s authentic cultural heritage.

His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Ghabshi, Wali of Jalan Bani Bu Ali and Chairman of the Organizing Committee, stated to the Oman News Agency that the third edition of the Ashkhara Atmosphere Forum is an extension of a pioneering initiative that aims to consolidate Al Ashkhara’s position as an attractive summer destination, vibrant and rich in diversity. This is within an integrated vision that aligns with the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate’s orientations towards enhancing tourism, developing the local economy, and activating community participation through qualitative programs that celebrate identity and explore horizons of innovation.

His Excellency said: “Since the launch of the first edition, the organizing committee has been keen to ensure that the forum serves as an integrated development platform that enhances community interaction, empowers youth, and embraces cultural, artistic, and sporting initiatives, in harmony with authenticity and innovation.”

This edition builds on the successes achieved and represents an enhanced launch, building on the lessons and gains learned from the previous two experiences. These include improved content, expanded partnerships, and enhanced visitor experiences, enhancing the forum’s sustainability and effectiveness. The forum includes several pavilions for official institutions, a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) pavilion, a café and productive families pavilion, awareness exhibitions, recreational spaces, and a heritage square.

For his part, His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, stated to the Oman News Agency that the “Ashkhara Atmosphere” Forum has become a practical model for integrating development efforts and investing in tourism seasons to strengthen the local economy and stimulate community activity. He explained that previous experiences with the forum provided a solid foundation for the launch of the current edition, which was more extensive and organized.

His Excellency added: “This forum reflects the governorate’s efforts to develop an integrated model for seasonal tourism, linked to the region’s unique characteristics and also connected to the local community as a key player in planning and implementation. Hence, the true value of this forum lies not only in its programs and activities, but also in its ability to build collaborative relationships between government agencies, the private sector, and the community, and to generate renewed economic and service opportunities.”

The event was attended by His Excellency Dr. Yahya bin Badr Al Maawali, Governor of South Al Sharqiyah, His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Humaid Al Ghabshi, Wali of Jalan Bani Bu Ali and Chairman of the Forum’s Organizing Committee, a number of officials from the governorate, Their Excellencies the members of the Shura Council, members of the Municipal Council, and heads of government institutions in the Wilayat.

It’s worth noting that the “Ashkhara Atmosphere” forum is organized by the Office of the Governor of South Al Sharqiyah Governorate, with the participation of several governmental, civil, and private institutions, in cooperation with the local community. It is considered one of the most prominent seasonal events in the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate. The previous two editions witnessed a large public turnout exceeding 300,000 visitors, and with the expansion of the park’s area and the diversity of events, visitor numbers are expected to increase.

The number of small and medium enterprises, productive families, and craftsmen participating in the forum’s activities reached 52, with 121 direct job opportunities on temporary contracts.
