Who We Are
SurCity is a community-based website that covers news, events, and culture in the Wilayat of Sur, Oman. The platform also highlights local history and public services. It was launched in October 2003 with support from the Sur Digital Initiative.
What Personal Data We Collect and Why

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. Gravatar’s privacy policy is available here:

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS), as visitors to the website can download and extract this data.

- If you have an account and log in, we will set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- Login cookies last for two days, and screen preference cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out will remove these cookies.
